5 Places You Can Bring Your Baby in Grand Rapids

Grab your Stroller or Carrier and go explore GR with Baby!

Now baby is here and you’ve both had some time to adjust.. it’s time to get out of the house!  Don’t want to go to the grocery store or target and want to be more adventurous? Grand Rapids has a ton of options for you to take your baby and they are places where you’ll feel comfortable.

Need to get in some socializing too, call your mom, friends, or family and meet up at some of the following places:

1 – Tanger Outlet Mall

Every new mom could use some shopping therapy! Once baby comes, clothes just don’t fit the same.  The Tanger Outlet mall is a great excuse for you to get out and check out the deals for you and baby.  Baby is constantly growing and will need bigger clothes, so why not get them for a deal? There are great baby store options like Carter’s, Gymboree, The Children’s Place, OshKosh B’gosh, Old Navy, and Gap to name a few. Click here for the Tanger Outlet Mall directory.

Mom Tip – Worried about nursing, don’t worry they have a nursing room! The nursing room is near the bathroom.
Coupon Tip – If you have a AAA membership, visit the service center and get a booklet of coupons every time you go to the outlets!

2 – Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park

Butterflies are blooming! Be sure to visit from March 1 – April 30 to see the butterflies, this is great way to experience spring before it’s actually here.  Meijer Gardens is the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the nation. Tropical butterflies from around the world fly freely in the Tropical Conservatory, make sure to ask about the release times.

Mom Tip – 2 & Under are FREE.

3 – Downtown Market

The market is open everyday of the week, feel free to come grab a bite to eat, shop, take a class or do yoga!  As a nursing mom, I was even more hungry than when I was pregnant.  The Market Hall hosts a culinary collective of butchers, bakers, fishmongers, and more. All of the vendors offer fresh options that were likely made that morning—or even that hour. Bundle Up Mondays – Special Deals & Promos happening MONDAYS ONLY at the Downtown Market through the end of March.  These will feature bundling promotions such as buy one get one free deals, 3 for the price of 1 specials, etc.

4 – Grand Rapids Children’s Museum

The Children’s Museum is a place created just for kids! They have a Wee Discover area for kids 4 & under, with a special area reserved for babies that aren’t crawling yet.  This is a great place to take your baby to interact with other kids and meet some new moms!  In addition, they offer a various events to get the entire family involved.

Mom Tip – Babies under 1 are FREE. Thursday is Family Night from 5 – 8 with a reduced fee of $1.75.

5 – Blandford Nature Center

Blandford Nature Center has 143 acres for you to come and enjoy in any season! The nature center has a lot of things to do, you can visit the Blandford Nature Center farm to see chicken and goats, view local rotating art exhibits, or engage in various community programs. Take advantage of the natural beauty and get some fresh air! They have maintained trails, where you can go for a hike, cross country ski, or snowshoe depending on the season.


 

Don’t let your baby keep you from getting out and doing things, bring them along! You’ll feel much better after you get out and do it.  Many of the places mentioned above have memberships, so you can make it a regular trip to get involved, socialize, and meet new friends with baby!
