Benefits of Going to Barre
Wondering what Barre is and why is everyone talking about it?? Barre is a class that utilizes the stable wooden barre to support you while you lift, tone, and engage muscles you may forgot you had by relying on your own bodyweight for resistance. This workout combines a bit of dance, pilates, and yoga. Each class at Renew Mama is a blend of unique exercises on your yoga mat or at the barre.
At first, I didn’t think this workout was for me. I thought I was more of a HIIT training type of girl, not small movements and plies. My friends kept telling me how great it was and how it helped them lose the last of their pregnancy weight. I decided to try it and turns out I LOVE it and it’s a lot harder than you think! Here are some benefits of Barre:
BARRE works your core the entire time.
So if you’re tired of doing tons of sit-ups to get better abs, I’d definitely consider giving barre a try!
Build muscles without bulking!
Don’t be surprised by the amount of push-ups, plank holds, and plié-like squats as most of the movements use your bodyweight. Embrace the shaking – it means you are exhausting that muscle and forcing it to tone… not bulk.
It’s great for every fitness level.
EVERYONE can do Barre, the class offers modifications for every age and level. Each student can get a workout by limiting or expanding their range of motion, tailoring it to their abilities. Remember – do NOT measure progress against the person next to you, but against YOURself!
You will get a total body workout every class.
Get ready to be worked from head to toe! BARRE focuses on the parts women have difficulty with such as their butt, hips, abs and arms. You’ll leave class with your entire body exhausted, but in a good way!
Hard on muscles, EASY on joints
If you do any sports that involve pounding on hard surfaces, Barre is a great way to strengthen your muscles without damaging your joints. The movements are easy on your body, focusing on specific muscles and avoid stress on joints like your knees or back.
You can do it while you’re pregnant.
Barre class is perfectly fine for pregnant women because the movements are low impact. As your belly grows, it can help with your posture, imbalance and stability
Class is ALWAYS fun.
Time flies during class due to the variety of exercises, upbeat music, fast pace and various choreography. Barre is the most FUN kind of torture, you hate it and love it at the same time
Barre pulls from yoga and dance, so there’s a focus on breathing to test your mental and physical limits. You’ll be making smaller movements which requires exact precision.
Improve Flexibility and Strength
Either you’re flexible but not strong or strong and not flexible, barre classes can teach your body to be both. Improved range-of-motion is one of the greatest benefits of barre exercise through focused stretching. Having both flexibility and strength can allow you to enjoy an active life without injuries.
You have more than ONE workout buddy and people encouraging to push you harder. Get to know your instructor and engage with people who have similar interests. The people start to become the reason you keep coming to class!
