My son was six months old when we took our first trip to Florida, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. The flights could go really well or really bad.. I was hopeful we wouldn’t be THAT couple with the screaming baby! When booking the flights, my husband and I decided to save our money and did not purchase a ticket for our son. We thought we might as well take advantage of the FREE flights before he was two.
Now baby is here and you’ve both had some time to adjust.. it’s time to get out of the house! Don’t want to go to the grocery store or target and want to be more adventurous? Grand Rapids has a ton of options for you to take your baby and they are places where you’ll feel comfortable.
Kids don’t have it easy these days, I can’t imagine growing up with all the technology distractions, competition, and social media. Growing up did I have distractions and competition? Yes, but now it’s at a whole new level. Our society has families busier than ever and doesn’t promote time to breathe or reflect to deal with the stress of everyday life.
I’ll never forget the rush of emotions I experienced when I found out I was pregnant. My mind was overwhelmed with thoughts of joy, shock, love, panic, excitement, and many more! I never thought all of those feelings could go together, but they were all good! Now my body was growing our son and I had to train my mind to make choices that were best for both of us, not just me!
When I first heard about Mom and Baby Yoga I could think of all the reasons NOT to go…what if my baby gets hungry? Fussy? Falls asleep in the car? The list could go on. As a new mom you have a million things going through your head with each decision about your baby and everyone has an opinion about it too! Sometimes it’s just easier to stay home…but you can only do that for so long before you go stir crazy!
When I first heard about Renew Mama Studio I was a new mom trying to figure out how to do life with my new baby. I was bummed I hadn’t heard about the studio sooner when I was still pregnant, but was so excited I could do yoga with my baby!
Do you ever wonder how your great-great grandmother learned to breastfeed before there were lactation consultants, breastfeeding classes and the Internet? I sometimes dream of a machine that would temporarily take me back to see how women birthed and breastfed (I’d be invisible, of course). I would record everything. I would listen closely to what all of the women in her life were saying–what advice and “words of wisdom” they were imparting on her.
Renew Mama is pleased to be the hub for both prenatal and postnatal yoga and education. In addition to yoga classes we offer a variety of content-rich workshops that provide key information that support women and their families. We have some great workshops scheduled for September. Make plans to join in + share your great energy with the Renew Family!
