My Journey Towards Mindful Parenting

By Cheryl Blackington from Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness

Register here for the workshop

Cheryl Blackington will be leading the Mindful Parenting Workshop November 4th at Renew Mama 12-5 PM.ReImagine bringing mindfulness into your parenting journey. Imagine finding a source of peace and acceptance with yourself and your kids, even at the worst of times.  Imagine being able to take a breath and pause before you react in an unhelpful way. Imagine developing a self care ritual so you don’t feel so overwhelmed and so stressed.  Parents have a huge impact on their children. Our kids watch us and model our actions, words, and emotions based on how we conduct ourselves.  It is not so much what you say, as what you do.

Meet Our April Member of the Month!

Hi, I’m Brandy! I am married to my college sweetheart, and together we are raising four beautiful and busy daughters 🙂

What I love most about Renew Mama is that it allows me to involve my entire family in yoga. My kids can participate in classes with me, my husband can come to special events with us, and I can go to classes alone for self care as well.

I have taken just about every class that Renew has offered!! Currently, I like to go to Candlelight yoga on Monday (after the kids go to bed!!), Power Yoga on Wednesday evening, and Yoga Flow on Saturday morning.  I also like to drop in to Movers & Crawlers and Little Kids Yoga when the day allows for it 🙂 (more…)

Safe Babymoon Destinations

Babymoon • a relaxing or romantic vacation taken by parents-to-be before their baby is born. A babymoon is a real thing and if you’re pregnant you should definitely go on one before baby comes! Disconnect from the stresses of everyday life, spend precious quality time with your partner and treat yourself! You will NEVER get this quality time back!

Wondering when to go? The second trimester is the best and most comfortable time to travel. (According to the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the safest time to travel is from 18 to 24 weeks.) Morning sickness is usually over, you tend to have a boost in energy, and your bump isn’t too big yet! Always check with your doctor prior to your trip just to be sure you’re safe to travel. (more…)
